As F2 Logistics prepares to make its debut in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, Aby Marano has taken on a new role as libero, transitioning from her previous position of guarding the frontline.
Marano, a longtime middle blocker, and Ara Galang, an outside spiker, filled in for Dawn Macandili as liberos for F2 Logistics during their match against Chery Tiggo at Philsports Arena on Tuesday. The team lost 23-25, 21-25, 22-25. The nature of Macandili’s injury is unknown.
The mainstay of the Philippine women’s volleyball team shrugged off the fact that she had to make a late adjustment to her role as libero for the Cargo Movers. The Cargo Movers were also without their backup defensive specialist CJ Saga-Woo, their import Lindsay Stalzer, and Tin Tiamzon due to health and safety protocols.
“Masaya. Lagi tayong magte-take ng responsibility when needed. There are no reservations,”
(I am always prepared to assume responsibility whenever it is required of me. As a matter of fact, due to the circumstances, I was only provided with a limited amount of training to become a libero. But I told myself that in order to fulfill this new duty well, I need to take on this additional responsibility with the utmost dedication. Because if I don’t, the change won’t go as smoothly as possible, and I might still be on the lookout for assaults. It is imperative that I carry it out devoid of all uncertainties, remorse, and concerns.
It was attributed to Galang that there were six wonderful receptions.
According to Marano
She is still getting used to the fact that she is the leader of the back row.
“This is an extremely difficult transition for me because everyone knew me as an offensive player. I was known for my powerful hitting. At every step, they would witness me carrying myself with confidence and vigor. This time, though, it is challenging because the only piece of advice I can give them is to “hit the ball hard.” Don’t be afraid. I will watch out for you. Not the Tyang, which is famous for going into beast mode,” Marano remarked in Filipino.
We are placing our faith in our middle blockers as well as the individuals who play the other positions. “I hope they go into the next game with some confidence,” she continued.
As a libero, the 29-year-old player is looking to exert control over the plays that are being set to her spiker.
“I’m still working on perfecting my control on off-system set to my wing spikers,” he said. “At this point in practice, I have to do several repetitions,” stated Marano.
Benson Bocboc, the coach of F2 Logistics, stated that Galang and Marano’s maintenance of the floor was only temporary and not intended to continue for the duration of the competition.
“Most certainly not” (for the whole tournament). This is not a plan at all. According to Bocboc, “we have to be ready lang just in case there will be alterations in terms of health concerns.” They demonstrated that they are prepared to take care of the team’s defense as well as the receive duties. We just didn’t do well enough when attacking or blocking. When we play the next game, we’ll have it back in our possession.
On Thursday, F2 Logistics will look to get back on track as they take on Choco Mucho.
